Executive Director
Brian Donnelly MSc
Brian Donnelly is the founder of CECOPS CIC and has for a long time spearheaded the campaign for the introduction of standards for community equipment. He has a lengthy career in community equipment, at operational, managerial and strategic levels.
In 2009 Brian conducted his own independent research based on his experiences, resulting in a widely acclaimed paper calling on the need for standards for equipment provision.
As a result of this report Brian was asked to write National Minimum Standards for Community Equipment for the Welsh Assembly Government. He then proceeded in a personal capacity to write the Code of Practice for Community Equipment for the rest of the UK.
Brian formerly worked in a national development role for community equipment provision, within the Welsh Assembly Government. Prior to that he was head of an integrated service in England, and has also worked as an ICES project manager and in a consultancy capacity across a number of services.
Brian is qualified in Purchasing & Supply, various management related topics, is a registered PRINCE2 Practitioner, and holds an MSc (with distinction) in Health & Social Care Management.
Brian is also a director of Community Equipment Solutions Ltd. (www.communityequipment.org.uk), a training and consultancy firm which he founded in 2010.
Brian says:
“The Code of Practice provides individuals and organisations with a framework of understanding about what their responsibilities are when commissioning or providing services”. He adds, “This is about protecting services to some of the most vulnerable members of our society; it is the least we can do.”
