British Red Cross register as a Code of Practice User

British Red Cross is the first organisation to have registered with the Code of Practice Scheme. The Red Cross were so keen to become involved with the Scheme they registered with us before it even went live.

Jean Henderson, UK Director for Red Cross, had this to say:

The Red Cross Community Equipment Service is another vital part of our health and social care work, which aims to promote independence, dignity and respect. The Red Cross believes that the high quality provision of community equipment plays a vital role in promoting physical and mental well-being and we welcome the introduction of the Community Equipment Code of Practice Scheme. It provides a much needed quality framework for commissioners and providers and, with the growing requirement to support vulnerable people to live with dignity in the community; we believe its introduction is both necessary and timely. For these reasons, the British Red Cross is delighted to be at the forefront of the implementation of the Code.

Douglas Armour, Director of CES, Red Cross, says:

CECOPS enables the outcome everyone wants, that people will be better enabled to manage their disability, illness or injury through the provision of quality, safe and consistent Community Equipment Services which fulfil the requirement of delivering to the right person, in the right place, at the right time with the right equipment.

Brian Donnelly, CECOPS Executive Director, says:

It is a pleasure and a privilege to have the British Red Cross join the Code of Practice Scheme. We are delighted that British Red Cross sees the merits of the Code of Practice. We sincerely believe that adopting the Code will help British Red Cross to achieve their aims of promoting independence, dignity and respect. Having a reputable organisation like British Red Cross supporting and joining the Scheme sends out a strong message of the merits of working to the Code. We look forward to working with British Red Cross both now and in the future.
