Additional Information
The Community Equipment Loan Service (CELS) is delivered by a large, multi-skilled workforce who deliver, assemble, install and collect specialist equipment aids for daily living. A service is provided to citizens of all ages in Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian who are living at home or in a nursing care home. Equipment is also delivered to educational establishments and satellite stores.
Equipment is issued on loan to those with an assessed need, determined by a health professional. Once equipment is no longer required, it is returned to CELS for decontamination, refurbishment and reuse.
Equipment enables citizens to be cared for safely at home/school, supports hospital discharges and helps to prevent hospital admissions.
A crisis equipment delivery service is available to support citizens to receive equipment at home within a 24-hour period. This is to support hospital discharges, prevent unnecessary hospital admissions or to enable end of life care at home.
Citizens and professionals can collect equipment from, or return equipment to, CELS via the Click and Collect/Return service or have items delivered to home.
