How the Approved Training scheme works
CECOPS does not itself carry out training, but is responsible for granting Approved Trainer status to those who have met certain criteria, and for developing the training programmes that are to be used by all Approved Trainers. CECOPS maintains a register of Approved Trainers so that registered and potential users of the relevant Code of Practice can locate an Approved Trainer in their area. CECOPS may carry out random quality assurance checks, and will also deal with any complaints relating to the training received.
It is expected that a variety of organisations across the country will provide Approved Training courses, including private training institutions, third sector organisations as well as suitably experienced individuals. Approved Trainers can be identified from the CECOPS register on-line, and they will also hold signed certificates and display the Approved Trainer certification mark on their website and training material.
It is essential that you only book training courses with CECOPS Approved Trainers to ensure appropriate and good quality training is provided. Please contact us if you have any doubts, or if you suspect that anyone is wrongly purporting to be an Approved Trainer.
Once you have selected an Approved Trainer from the CECOPS register, you should contact them directly to discuss your requirement and book courses. Each individual trained by an Approved Trainer will be awarded a signed certificate by CECOPS. Individual training will last for 3 years, with refresher courses every 3 years.
CECOPS has set recommended costs for training, but Approved Trainers are entitled to set their own prices, so these may vary. The current recommended rate per individual is:
£125 = per module
